Ingredients
- Ground Beef 85/15 — 2lb organic ($12.00)
- Jasmine Rice — 2.33 cups dry ($1.25)
- Brown Sugar — 0.5 cup packed ($0.50)
- Soy Sauce — 0.5 cup reduced sodium ($0.50)
- Sesame Oil — 6 tsp for glaze ($0.50)
- Sriracha — 1 tsp heat ($0.05)
- Red Pepper Flakes — 1 tsp crushed ($0.05)
- Ground Ginger — 0.5 tsp powdered ($0.05)
- Garlic — 5 cloves minced ($0.20)
- Green Onions — 0.5 bunch thinly sliced ($0.50)
Instructions
- 1Cook the Base — Rinse 2.33 cups dry jasmine rice and cook in rice cooker per machine instructions.
- 2Sear the Beef — Heat large skillet medium-high. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking into crumbles, 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat from pan. Stir in minced garlic and cook 1 more minute until fragrant.
- 3Whisk the Sauce — In a small bowl whisk together brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, ground ginger, red pepper flakes, and sriracha until sugar dissolves.
- 4Glaze and Pack — Pour sauce over browned beef in skillet. Reduce heat to medium and simmer 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens and coats beef. Remove from heat and stir in sliced green onions. Divide cooked jasmine rice evenly across 6 containers then top each evenly with sticky sesame beef.
Freeze
Freezes excellently — sauce caramelizes even better after freezing
Reheat
Microwave covered 2-3 minutes stirring halfway. Rice soaks up any extra sauce beautifully
